ARGENTINA
Argentina is the largest wine producer in South America.
The vineyards are hot and dry, so irrigation is essential. Once
an area of mediocre wines, Argentina now produces wines worthy
of cellaring as well as everyday drinking. When it comes to wine
grapes Argentina's claim to fame rides on two; Malbec, red and
Torrontes, white.
The Malbec grape with French roots, grows with good success
under the South American sun, producing wines that are full of extract
with a silky richness that was lacking from the more rustic character
of it's French cousins.
The Torrontes is a grape that is indigenous to the area and unique
to the rest of the wine world. It produces aromatic, medium bodied
wines, rich in fruit flavor. As with other wine growing countries, Argentina
also makes wine from the classic grapes as well. Below are examples
of wines from this area that you can purchase from us.
