                                                                            UNITED STATES

United States, when you think of wine in this country,

California, is the first state that comes to mind.  California produces

about 90% of all wines in the U.S., if it were a nation, it would be

the fourth largest producer in the world.  One could say, that

California has inspired a nation of quality wine making.  Though

probably not the first state to make wine, it receives plenty of

accolades and attention.  The fact is wine is produced in all 50

states.  States that are in contention with California for the number

one spot are: Washington, Oregon and New York.

These states have made a very good name for themselves

in the wine world.  As we move forward into the future, be on the look

out for states such as Ohio, Michigan, Texas, Virginia, Arizona,

New Mexico and the list continues to grow.  The wine system in

the United States to identify wine growing areas is called the AVA,

American Viticultural Area.  Like European systems, it has rules and

regulations for established wine growing areas.  Unlike the European

system, it's not as strict with micro regulations and historical boundries.

To date, there are over 2200 wineries in the U.S. and growing.

Canada, you will be happy to know that wine is now produced

and imported into the United States with great reviews.  Although

Canada is not U.S. territory, I thought it would be okay to include

it here, since it is connected.  Now, once an area that grew mainly

French Hybrid grapes.  The Canadians have figured out how to grow

the classic wine grapes on their soil.  They've even taken it a step further

by taking advantage of their climate and now produce Icewine.  Canadians

regulation wine system is called VQA, which stands for Vintner Quality

Alliance.  It's purpose is to distinguish quality wine from wines simply

labeled product of Canada.  It also regulates the standards for quality

wine production.  As you can see, the world of wine is never ending.

Since the beginning of time, wine has continued to reward and

seduce us with the mysterious juice in the bottle.  Below are examples

of wines from this area you can purchase from us.
